In search of nature rather than architecture today we are setting for the isles. Nonetheless the curiosity of the people and their urban way of living prompts us to cycle through the city. Thus from the early hours we gather information about the Trolls (as the local immigrants call the native Norwegians).
My doubts concerning the openness of the Northern People prove to be far from the truth. Asked for directions, they easily and eagerly serve the explanation, every passer-by grins at us, and an elderly lady, with whom we chat about the pubs in Oslo, ends the conversation with an attempt of granting us some change for beer ;)
The isles Ormoya and Malmoya, being our today destination also seem promising. It’s a green and peaceful place, ideal for picnic or sunbathing. And what is more, you can easily reach them by bike. And as for cycling- Oslo is a perfect place for the two-wheelers. There is no street here, which does not have a special belt for cyclers, and the local hills pose a considerable challenge for the bike-users.
Going downhill, back to the centre, we observe a crowd of loud-music-fans. It’s the first day of the rock festival, and all the signs suggest that it’s going to be hard ( meaning: hard-rock). Therefore for tomorrow, we plan an urban day…
