At 7 a.m we receive a warm welcome from the falling rain. After a quick pants-drying in the toilet at the train station we are heading to Portrush, to cath a bus to Giant's Causeway. As there's no sing of the timetable we try to find something out in the nearby Tourist Information Centre. Inside we meet another couple:
-Are you going to Giant's Causway?
-That's right
-We can give you a lift.
Danny and Oli, two outstandingly cordial and amiable tourists from Izrael have been riding around Ireland for a week or so. Together we get to the picturesque ruins of Dunluce Castle, situated on the steep clif-edge, and then we move towards the Causeway, that is, the unique formation of hexagonal stone columns, being, according to the legend, the remnants of the wall erected by the local Giant ;) The stones are indeed oustanding, however, what I am especially enchanted with, are the high, rugged cliffs.
Oli, who is a biologist, gives us a lot of interesting details concerning the wealth of species inhabiting this region. Some of them reveal themseles to us, as if they were here to make a spectacular show.
Not so far from the shore we notice a large seal, which shamelessly, and eagerly presents to the audience its round and shiny bum :)
We travel along the coastline to Carnick-A-Redge to cross the famous rope bridge. The bridge itself is not as challenging as it is said to be, though, when moved by the wind, it might turn a bit scary. The only thing that spoils the whole fun is a long queue before entering. The views, however, are stunning. We wish we could preserve the scenery and the spaciousness of this place on our pictures. It is barely possible.
Taking our time and straying along the coast, we suddenly realize that it is time to go back. Our tour-mates are so nice as to take us back to Antrim. On our way to Janos' place we wander what drives people to offer a totally selfless and disinterested help to others. We do not know. What we know for sure is that our dream of meeting inspiring people on our way today, for the first time, came true...
Thank You, Danny and Oli ;)
