In terms of architecture the capital city presents obviously a different style from the outskirts. Here the old tenement -houses are intertwined with modern glass -and- steel public buildings. However here, all those constructions, erected along the canals acquire their unique style. In search of the modern architecture it is good to see the new theater and opera, but those who prefer the old style, can walk along Nyhavn, which nowadays is as overcrowded as hundred years ago, when hungry mariners were hunting prostitutes here. And as for hunger- in the little shops along the street they sell fantastic ice-cream. They're quite expensive, but still far cheaper than in Norway ;)
For our last day we planned to visit Christianhavn- the outlawed, free area, overtaken and inhabited by the descendants of hippies, the contemporary representatives of flower (or rather grass) power, the emigrants form sun (-and not only sun) -burned Jamaica, and all the other types of anarchy-lovers. This specific place full of colors, music, handwork and hash stands, has been a temptation to me since my last visit to Copenhagen, and I still feel it's worth seeing. As the way of living in a hippie -commune is based on a concept of peace, this place, although anarchic, does not seem extremely dangerous. Providing we obey the main rule here- NO PICTURES TAKEN.
