At 11 p.m. we landed in Girona with the intention of staying there for the night. Unfortunately we forgot to plan where to sleep. We found out that in Barcelona it is barely possible to find a hostel, and all the campsites are obviously somewhere on the outskirts. Still, some camping areas can be found in the little towns along the Costa Brava. Thus we caught the last bus to Lloret de Mar, supposing that if it reads „de Mar“, it must be situated by the sea.
On the bus we met a Polish girl, a student of chemistry from Lublin, who, with her good command of Spanish, turned out really helpful, and offered her assistance in cheap-hostel-searching. The cheap hostels did not prove cheap at all, and the very place not as colorful as it was supposed to be. Lloret is a typical sea resort, which can be a fantastic place for learning the language, providig you want to learn German. In fact, there were more Germans than the Spanish in the streets, as well as on the campsite, where we eventually ended up. Anyway, we had some place to sleep.
For a couple of days I suffered form a toothache. Not a regular one, but something inside, in the gum as if. Afraid of it getting worse we found a local dentist, who could not only speak English, but also was very amiable. As it turned out I was granted an extra tooth. A gift of nature as it might seem, I could not approve it, as there was no space in my oral cavity for yet another one. I was prescribed some medicines and my tooth is supposed to come back to Poland with me, and there it¨s gonna be extracted. Having left the dental service we set off to Barcelona.
Never before have I seen a city that would be so lively. Hundreads of people rushing endlessly in every direction can be seen in many places, nevertheless, here they seem more colorful. What made it even more vivid was the sunny weather, the diverse architecture and the civic bikes. The bikes are available for the citizens of Barcelona only, and can be obtained by the use of a special chipcard. Although it took us a couple of hours, we managed to get two of these too. It was worth trying, for thanks to it we could see a huge part of the city. Riding round Barcelona took us half of a day and half of a night, so there was no point in looking for a hostel, so we sat on a bench and waited till the early morning. Wit the sunrise we went to the beach in search of a free shower, and then we set off to Vigo, to the other side of the country.
At that time, due to the toothache and terrible heat, we gave up taking pictures for some time. Every now and then one needs some rest, especially when on holiday.
